They were forced to leave Germany. Those who remained were deported to concentration camps. Most reminders of their existence and work were erased.<\/p>\n<p>These architects were members of leading professional organizations such as Deutscher Werkbund, Bund Deutscher Architekten, Architekten- und Ingenieurverein zu Berlin, or Akademie der K\u00fcnste. Many of them were outstanding proponents of modern architecture.
