Residential House Dr. Bejach
Erich Mendelsohn designed this house for the borough council doctor Curt Bejach in Berlin-Steinstuecken. Mendelsohn also designed parts of the interior such as stairs, railings, wardrobes, door and window handles. A porch that links the entrance gate to the house door is remarkable because of its width – wide enough for access by a car. It was here that the opening scene of the musical “Three From the Petrol Station” was filmed. The famous UFA Studios were close by. It was the modernity of this building that definitely inspired both the film director as well as the producer to shoot the takes here. The entire film crew consisting of the production staff, the director, the story board author, the musicians, the camera man, and the cutter were Jews who were forced to emigrate after 1933.
