Public Baths in Landsberg/Warthe
Apart from numerous contracts in Berlin Fritz Crzellitzer repeatedly received contracts in Landsberg an der Warthe (today’s Gorzów Wielkopolski). The connection came through his wife Martha who was a member of the influential Jewish family Schoenflies.
Among Crzellitzer‘s most known buildings in Landsberg are the Peoples Welfare House and the Public Baths. Both buildings were a gift of the Landsberger industrialist Max Bahr, who is honoured with a bust in the entrance hall of the pubic baths. Nowadays the Gorzovia Sports Club uses the building. Apart from its new function the building is more or less intact.
The public baths building has, at a right angle, a structure attached where there used to be medicinal baths and massage rooms as well as shops and flats. The facade of the public baths building is defined by a protruding stairwell window lined by ceramic tiles, a narrow entrance and two attica figures. The colourful ceramic interior reflects the elegance of the former function of the building especially in the stairwell. Furthermore through the multi-coloured terrazzo floors and the changing rooms.
