Experimental Housing Estate Schorlemerallee

The experimental housing estate in the Schorlemerallee was designed by Alfons Anker and the brothers Wassili and Hans Luckhardt and was to be built in several construction phases. The architects experimented with different construction methods and materials for building flats in the three groups comprising the estate.
The third and last group of two-storey flats in a row were executed in a mixed construction of brickwork and reinforced concrete. The dividing walls carry the structure so that variable floor plans were possible. Colourful window frames and doors in blue and red characterise the clear-cut cubic structure. Each of the three buildings street facades are defined by glass brick walls. They create a heightened contrast to the horizontal rows of windows.
The buildings belong to the most consequential examples of modern housing in Berlin.
