Crzellitzer, Fritz
geb. 1876 Berlin – 1942 Tel Aviv gest.
Fritz Crzellitzer studied at the TH Berlin and stayed in the city to work as an independent architect. At the same time he was active as a composer and painter and maintained a close friendship with the family of the architectural historian Julius Posener.
He designed several country houses and villas, chiefly in Zehlendorf and Charlottenburg. But he was also responsible for building the indoor swimming pool and the welfare service building in Landsberg/Warthe, both typical of building reform endeavors in the Weimar Republic. These structures in what is now Gorzów Wielkopolski (Poland) are preserved in good condition and are currently used, respectively, as a sports hall and a professional school. Crzellitzer was prohibited from practicing his profession in 1933 and immigrated with his family in 1934 to Tel Aviv/Palestine where, until his death, he was never again able to work as an architect.
